Grama Panchayat Institutional Structure

The Grama Panchayat administration functions based on the principles of public participation, transparency, and accountability. The Gram Sabha is the fundamental unit of the local self-government institution. The Panchayat's administration and development activities are efficiently implemented through the elected governing body, Standing Committees, Sub-Committees, Secretary, implementing officers, and employees, working together in coordination.

Sub-committees are formed as required to handle various matters of the Grama Panchayat more efficiently. These committees function under the supervision of the Panchayat Governing Body, coordinate activities in their respective areas, submit recommendations, and provide support for development activities.

The Secretary is responsible for all administrative and office-related activities of the Grama Panchayat. The Secretary leads the implementation of decisions of the Governing Body, coordination of various development projects, supervision of office activities, financial and administrative procedures, maintenance of records, and statutory procedures.

Implementing Officers from various departments are assigned for the implementation of various government schemes and annual projects undertaken by the Grama Panchayat. Their main responsibilities include planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating the progress of projects related to their respective departments.

The employees play a vital role in efficiently carrying out the day-to-day administrative and public service activities of the Grama Panchayat. They are responsible for delivering office administration, tax and revenue services, birth, death and marriage registration, file processing, certificate issuance, project implementation, and various public services to the people in a timely manner.
